What is real?

Posted by realmenovercome on February 27, 2007

How can we as Americans know who is telling us the truth? If we read the news papers or watch the news on TV are we not supposed to believe those who are reporting it? How about the questions that are asked by the reporters to those who are actually doing some thing to help or fight for the right of the reporter to ask the inane questions that they ask? I remember after the quake and tsunami that hit Malaysia in December of 04 there was a BBC reporter asking a question of some one from the U.N. Now I am not a fan of the U.N. but the man being interviewed is a man of some honor. The question was some thing like this, “What is the U.N. prepared to do in the face of the stinginess of the United States?” The U.N. man said, “The United States is not stingy, the United States has never been stingy and the United States will never be stingy.” The U.N. man was not an American by the way. He spoke in a tone that put the reporter back in his place as a REPORTER not a commentator or really a person of any consequence at all. The U.S. had just given $20 Million or Billion to the relief effort and this guy was criticizing the U.S. for not doing enough.

So how would you describe what is happening in Iraq? Would you call it a failure, unpopular war, nightmare, or quagmire? How many of the reporters, pundits, and critics have been here? How many of those who choose to criticize the military and civilian leadership of our military have ever been in a position of great responsibility? I was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. What exactly did I have the responsibility to do? I was responsible for the very lives of those who were responsive to my orders. I had a greater and heavier responsibility than any reporter ever had or will ever have in their lives. BUT they have a great deal of INFLUENCE over public opinion. The polls have continued to drop for our president and the war itself the longer the war has drug on and the longer the news has misreported on what is happening here. We only have to look at history to see why the war is lasting so long here. History next time.

Would you like to know the REAL problem and why we are having so much trouble and why we have not pulled up stakes and left yet? Politically correct views on one thing. The PC view of that one thing is what is driving this whole thing longer than it should have. We also do not have a healthy attitude towards war like we once did. We should have turned this country into a heap of rubble and taken over any and every thing that was worth anything and taken it back to the U.S. for safe keeping and then worried about bringing these people into the twenty first century.

So what is that one thing that we are taking a PC view on? One word is all it takes: Islam. A more confusing religion has never been invented. A more contradictary book than the Qur’an has never been written. How can these guys ever get it right when one verse says take care of the visitor to your camp even if he be an enemy you shall not kill him and in the next verse or shortly there after they are told to KILL ALL of the enemies of the Prophet and Allah? How can they be expected to know how to treat their wives with love and protect their daughters when they are told that rape has to have FOUR MALE witnesses to be proved or the woman will be accused of adultery?

Book to read: “The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam and the Crusades” by Robert Spencer. If I have the story right, Dr. Spencer has had his life threatened so vosiferously by Muslims that he has moved every day or every couple of weeks for the past three or four years with his wife and children. The organization known as CAIR “Counsel on American-Islamic Relations” has had demostrations and marches through AMERICAN streets calling for death to America and Robert Spencer. In these marches they have carried signs with pictures of the Ayatollah Khomeini, the very antithesis of freedom and America, and we allowed it. There is a truth for you.

So those are Craig’s thoughts for the day. More another day!!

Subject: Story about Ann Margaret in Vietnam I checked this out on snopes and they claim it is true. This is a good counter balance story to the Jane Fonda/Vietnam/Woman Of The Year story I have received many times in my e-mail….

Ann Margaret
Viet Nam 1966

Richard, (my husband), never really talked a lot about his time in Viet Nam other than he had been shot by a sniper. However, he had a rather grainy, 8 x 10 black and white photo he had taken at a USO show of Ann Margaret with Bob Hope in the background that was one of his treasures.

A few years ago, Ann Margaret was doing a book signing at a local bookstore. Richard wanted to see if he could get her to sign the treasured photo so he arrived at the bookstore at 12 o’clock for the 7:30 signing.

“When I got there after work, the line went all the way around the bookstore, circled the parking lot and disappeared behind a parking garage. Before her appearance, bookstore employees announced that she would sign only her book and no memorabilia would be permitted.

Richard was disappointed, but wanted to show her the photo and let her know how much those shows meant to lonely GI’s so far from home. Ann Margaret came out looking as beautiful as ever and, as second in line, it was soon Richard’s turn.

He presented the book for her signature and then took out the photo. When he did, there were many shouts from the employees that she would not sign it. Richard said, “I understand. I just wanted her to see it.”

She took one look at the photo, tears welled up in her eyes and she said, “This is one of my gentlemen from Viet Nam and I most certainly will sign his photo. I know what these men did for their country and I always have time for ‘my gentlemen.’”

With that, she pulled Richard across the table and planted a big kiss on him. She then made quite a to-do about the bravery of the young men she met over the years, how much she admired them, and how much she appreciated them There weren’t too many dry eyes among those close enough to hear. She then posed for pictures and acted as if he were the only one there.

Later at dinner, Richard was very quiet. When I asked if he’d like to talk about it, my big strong husband broke down in tears. “That’s the first time anyone ever thanked me for my time in the Army,” he said.

That night was a turning point for him. He walked a little straighter and, for the first time in years, was proud to have been a Vet. I’ll never forget Ann Margaret for her graciousness and how much that small act of kindness meant to my husband.

I now make it a point to say “Thank you” to every person I come across who served in our Armed Forces. Freedom does not come cheap and I am grateful for all those who have served their country.

If you’d like to pass on this story, feel free to do so. Perhaps it will help others to become aware of how important it is to acknowledge the contribution our service people make.

Don’t be too busy today…Share this inspiring message with friends and family.

On behalf of those who DO appreciate all that you did for us, thank you to each of you who receive this message who have served or are serving our country in the armed services or any other service.”
